Carolyn Goding founded International Automated Brokers in San Diego in 1986. Prior to becoming a licensed Customs Broker, Carolyn worked for the U.S. Customs Service for 16 years. Her expertise enabled her to guide customers through the obstacles and complexities of the import/export business. Carolyn made sure that every employee she hired not only learned from her, but also embraced her devotion to providing world-class customer service. Carolyn was very active in the brokerage community. She served as President of the San Diego Customs Brokers Association for eight years, was secretary of the Pacific Coast Council and participated in varying degrees with the Border Trade Alliance, the National Customs Broker Association and the Otay Chamber of Commerce. Carolyn earned a reputation as an ethical businesswoman who was always professional, supportive and devoted to serving her customers. Carolyn passed away in February 2012, but not without passing on her strong business ethics to her three children. Steve, her eldest, has been in the business for over 25 years and has worked every position at IAB from entry-level to management. James joined in 1991 and has also worked every position from the ground up. Rachael joined IAB in 2003 after having obtained her law degree at the University of San Diego. Carolyn made certain that her children not only learned every facet of the customs brokerage business, but also embraced the ethics and professionalism that she so firmly believed in. She was passionate about providing responsive, cost-effective solutions to her clients and competitors alike, and that passion thrives today in her children and every IAB employee.
